Why Barstool’s Office Upgrade Actually Matters
by That Nature Dude
Most corporate office renovations follow the exact same predictable script. Companies buy cheaply built furniture or create stylized backdrops designed purely to look good on a camera feed. But out at the Barstool Sports office in Chicago, content creator Dante The Don is quietly changing the playbook on what a workplace renovation can actually achieve. By aggressively transforming a previously unused space into a functional green space, Dante is (purposely or not) building an oasis for wildlife in the middle of a concrete jungle.
He's not (to my knowledge) building a greenhouse, installing a beehive, or harboring endangered species, because all it takes is small choices. Earlier this morning, Dante confirmed that he will be installing a garden for Barstool Chicago's Chef, Chef Donny, to use naturally grown ingredients for food videos he makes, and just occasionally around the office.
He also replied to me that he plans to plant natural wildflowers, which is a cheap and easy way to help the local bee population, which in turn, will help his garden grow.
These two things normally wouldn't make any headlines, but others must see the small things that can be done at your office or your home, no matter if you live miles away from civilization (like Dante wants to) or right in the middle of the biggest city in the Midwest.
I will be following along and watching for more eco-conscious decisions that are made with this project.
If I may, composting is an easy way to cut down on unnecessary food waste going in the trash, and it can help your garden grow, so installing or building a composting bin would be a positive addition. Installing bird feeders and/or bird baths can also give wildlife a natural resting spot to get away from the noise and commotion surrounding. Finally, I think adding a bat box can not only provide a similar resource as bird houses, just for bats, but will also help you keep mosquito numbers and other pests that may bother employees having a good time outside, as bats eat hundreds of mosquitoes every hour.
Whatever the end result is, people need to realise that it doesn't take monumental changes in our lives to make a difference, and taking on projects like these and adding environmentally healthy flares to them can help shape the future of humans working alongside nature, instead of against it.
Shoutout Dante, and shoutout Barstool
