Predicting Every NFL Starting Quarterback for 2025
By Caleb Jeanneret
THE OBVIOUS TIER
Chiefs: Patrick Mahomes
Chargers: Justin Herbert
Bengals: Joe Burrow
Broncos: Bo Nix
Commanders: Jayden Daniels
Ravens: Lamar Jackson
Bills: Josh Allen
Falcons: Michael Penix
Bears: Caleb Williams
Patriots: Drake Maye
Lions: Jared Goff
Packers: Jordan Love
Texans: CJ Stroud
Eagles: Jalen Hurts
Bucs: Baker Mayfield
Cowboys: Dak Prescott
75% CHANCE:
Cardinals: Kyler Murray
In my opinion should be the starter going into the year, but if they decide he is capped out and want to trade him to a QB needy team and restart the clock, now would be the time to do it as his value probably won't get much higher than this, but also is this the QB draft class to decide to restart with?
Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa
Dolphins could decide to move away from Tua, and you will here rumours of it all year, but as long as Mike McDaniel is the Head Coach, Tua will be the QB (unless he retires from football).
Browns: Deshaun Watson
It could get much better, but the reality is it won't. BEST case scenario you draft a top QB, even then, Watson will begin the season as the starter. Browns don't have the ability to sign anyone that will actually compete with Watson for the starting job due to the cap issues they currently have, but there is a low chance that a rookie wins the job, or Watson gets suspended.
Panthers: Bryce Young
Earlier this season, Young was benched and stamped with the infamous B word. Now, head coach Dave Canales has once again turned around a QBs career, and Bryce Young seems to have shown enough to remain the starter for at least another year. There is a chance a high-end QB comes available and Young is used as a trade piece, but low chance that happens.
Colts: Anthony Richardson
The Colts have publicly announced that Richardson is their QB going forward, but it wouldn't be the first time an NFL team committed to someone only to turn around and "change their mind". most likely, as bad as I believe he is, Richardson will start week 1.
Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence
This should probably be closer to 90%, but they will likely have a new coach next year, and they could decide to go a different direction, but with this QB class and the QBs that may be available, there is no point to getting rid of 25 year old Trevor Lawrence.
49ers: Brock Purdy
With ongoing contract talks, there is a chance Brock Purdy holds out and gets traded, but realistically he will be suiting up for San Fran next season with a chance to either prove he deserves/deserved a new contract.
50/50 BUT KEEP STARTER
Saints: Derek Carr
Spencer Rattler has not been good enough down the stretch. He could be good, but you can see the drop off when Derek Carr isn't playing. If this was who will end the year as the starter, Carr would not be my guy, but I think the new coach in New Orleans wants Carr as a good bridge guy.
Seahawks: Geno Smith
Originally I was going to predict a new guy in charge, but there is no reason to change right now. They will give Geno one more year, and then move on when they find someone they actually believe in to win a superbowl
Steelers: Russel Wilson
Wilson will be a free agent in the offseason, and after looking great in his first few starts, has began to falter, but realistically, who will be better for them right now? Will they want to pay another veteran to learn the system, or punt that decision another year for a guy that now has a year in Arthur Smiths system? I'll vote the latter
Vikings: Sam Darnold
Darnold will be a free agent, but are the Vikings really going to let him go after winning 14+ games with a raw QB prospect coming off injury as the contingency plan? Not saying KOC couldn't make it work, but I think Darnold comes back on a franchise tag or a new 2 year deal.
NEW QBS IN 2025
Giants: Carson Wentz
The Giants will be drafting someone, but I do not believe that there is anyone in this QB class that is good enough to start right away whether it be Sanders or Ward. A rookie QB will start multiple games for the Giants, but it won't be week 1, so I think Wentz gets back into the NFC East and gives Brian Daboll or a new coach a bridge QB with loads of experience.
Jets: Kirk Cousins
I do not think Aaron Rodgers will be playing football after next week, and I think a new coach will look at Kirk Cousins for 1-2 years as a perfect bridge while they find their next guy.
Titans: Mac Jones
This was by far the hardest one to predict, as I have no idea what the Titans will do going forward. I do not believe Callahan wants to go back to Will Levis, but Mason Rudolph is also not good enough to be a starter in this league. I am taking a shot in the dark, and Callahan may be looking for a long-term bridge guy until they find their franchise guy.
Rams: Zach Wilson
My bold prediction for this blog is that Matthew Stafford will retire following the playoffs/season, and after watching what his former OC Kevin O'Connell did with Sam Darnold, McVay could look for a cheap high upside project in Wilson to replace Stafford.
Raiders: Drew Lock
Will the Raiders fire Antonio Pierce? They should, but will they? I have no clue, what I do know, is AOC is not good enough, and neither is Minshew. The Raiders will look to draft Shedeur Sanders, but they will also bring in a vet to compete, and like I said before, don't think Sanders or Ward are good enough yet. Lock provides a fun bridge option that will win some games before the rookie is ready.
